CEDAR’s mission is pursued through programmes that span a number of development sectors and cross cutting issues of our interest. Major sectors of interest include inter alia:-

Micro and Small Enterprise Development and Microfinancing

Youth and Women Development

Agricultural Value Chains and Rural Development

Community Health, Social Development and Vocational Education

Development Support

CEDAR facilitates local economic development and provides project management support and referral services through service agreements with investors, international development partners, politicians, Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and governments. We are experts in community mobilization and NGO building. Our strength lies in our capacity and ability for networking with public and non-state actors.

Research and Advisory Services

We undertake: policy and action research; base line studies; business plan development and feasibility studies; needs assessment; monitoring and evaluation; market research and business advice support. We also have updated database on development experts and organisations as well as a well-stocked development resource library.

Training, Mentoring and Learning Exchanges

The Centre facilitates training, international internships, learning journeys and exchange programs. The internships serve to connect international students, faculty, government agencies, and private organizations including business and professional groups with local communities. This is to create innovative cross cultural solutions to felt needs. The Centre is a Practicum Site for George Warren Brown Institute of Social Work, Washington University, St. Louis, Missouri, USA.

Networking and Advocacy

Here we engage in networks, alliance building and partnerships towards issue-driven advocacy in collaboration with other Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) and Networks. CEDAR is the Zonal Representative of Civil Society Coalition for Poverty Eradication (CISCOPE) in Nigeria apart from others.

Enterprise and Local Economic Development

Our work involves the facilitation of micro and small enterprises in the areas of business incubation, business plan development, microfinance referrals, group development, mentoring, information sharing, market research, small tools adoption and skills development opportunities. The Centre has a demonstration site where many of these activities can be learnt.
